KHARKIV MEDICAL ACADEMY OF POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION IS COMPLETELY STATE OWNED HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT OF UKRAINE.

Kharkov Institute of Advanced Training of Physicians was established by order of the People’s Commissariat of Public Health (NKOZ) Ukraine from 10.11.1923r. Training Institute began work January 1, 1924. with comprehensive training 24 rural district doctors, playing first course was 3 months, then 4, and later moved to institute the principle of differentiated training of physicians for up to 6 months.

In parallel, the Institute was held constant work in science and teachers. The first form of training was available with two-year internship training, introduced NKOZ Ukraine in 1928. The first issue counted 84 medical interns. To improve the quality of medical interns special order NKOZ Ukraine organizational guidance interns were assigned to the Ukrainian Central Institute for Advanced Training. Internship existed until 1938, played a positive role in training professionals.

The second form of scientific and teaching staff and has postgraduate clinical residency introduced NKOZ Ukraine in 1931. Organizational guidance was again placed on the Ukrainian Central Institute for Advanced Training.

During WWII, the institute was evacuated to the rear and was involved in retraining doctors for hospitals and military units.

To 50-year anniversary (1973r.) at the Institute operated 40 departments and 2 courses. In the second half of 70 years (Rector prof. Hvysyuk MI) significantly improves the material and technical base of the institute. Since 1977. the institute was established 24 faculty with our highest priority subjects for the first time in the Soviet Union (Department of Traumatology and vertebrology, neonatology, Addiction, and others).

In 1991 institute subordinated to the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and renamed to Kharkiv Institute of Advanced Training of Physicians, and in 1999 – in Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

In the Academy are 64 faculties, which are combined in 5 departments: Therapy, Surgery, Pediatrics, Medical Prophylaxis and the first in Ukraine Department of General Practice / Family Medicine. Curriculum and training program with specialty «general practice – family medicine» includes 21 specialty. Over the years the faculty have been trained for 30 cycles for medical students in 1200, among them – to Kharkiv and Kharkiv region 950. From 2000 to 8 cycles for nurses in general practice – family medicine have been trained about 200 nurses.

Academy participates in the implementation of family medicine in public health practice in Ukraine. Since 2001 is teaching science and laboratory methodology of family medicine. Lab took active part in drafting documents 1 st Congress of Family Physicians for the organization of institutions of family medicine. Together with the HMAPO in the Kharkiv region in 2001 opened 104 outpatient family doctor. At more than 750 cycles of thematic advanced training, specialization, pre-cycle year in the Academy study, about 15 thousand doctors.

In April 2000 the Academy obtained a license for the provision of educational services related to education level of qualification requirements for doctors with specialty training in management organizations in health care. In 2002 the Academy received from the SAC Ukraine licensed to provide educational services related to obtaining higher education at the level of qualification requirements for a junior specialist, bachelor, and their training. By order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in the structure of the Academy in 2002 opened a medical college.

Great team work is the Academy for Training is based on the latest achievements of science teaching, the introduction of intensive methods and technical training.

During recent years HMAPO first in Ukraine already developed and implemented in the work of assessment criteria for the quality of teachers, which include 4 areas: educational and pedagogical work, research work, clinical work, as well as financial and household. In each direction vypratsovana sufficient number of indicators that allow you to objectively evaluate the learning process at the Department of the Academy.

HMAPO, with all the technical and pedagogical possibilities for developing a network of distance learning, introducing him at the Faculty of Management in Health Care. The course includes didactic, teaching and information and reference materials for academic disciplines, as well as software that allows to use them for self-control knowledge. Distance learning allows you to change the content, methods and learning.

In recent years, the Academy of order MZ of Ukraine prepared and approved by the Coordination Council of Health of Ukraine 10 internship programs, 22 specific programs, 55 programs of pre-cycles and computer tests for pre-certification courses.

Significant contribution to the methodological work done departments, which according to MOH Ukraine were identified supporting – 26 chairs, 31 specialty. A board supporting departments. Due to organizational initiatives such groups improved coordination and standardization of the teaching process in the related departments in different universities of the country.

To improve guidance of updated activity Seminar head teachers, carried out their survey. Proposals to improve the quality of teachers teaching in the future debated and adopted at the methodical Council and Academic Council of the academy.

The Academy operates as «School of young teachers, in workshops which discussed the system and methods of education in the world, legal and economic aspects of medicine and higher education, pedagogy and new technology education.

The conduct of these institutions, along with the training of teachers in special courses, improve the quality of the educational process of technical documentation, introduction of new educational technologies, and, consequently, a higher level of vocational training.

For 80 years, Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Studies done much, but future plans are very large – is the intensification of educational process, developing comprehensive programs in the light of modern advances in science and technology, the introduction of distance learning technologies at the Department of the Academy, which provides for «National Program information.
